I've been a bit lax on updating lately. The new job has kept me pretty busy, so I'll try to give a brief review of what's gone on the past few weeks.
First, you've noticed by now the site is a little different. Give me your comments, I'd love to hear them. I know it's a sickening pink. I fucking love pink. Don't bitch about the color.
As for the car accident: Yes, I'm okay. I was on I-75S in morning rush hour traffic, about 2 miles from work. It was raining out, and traffic was sucking as it usually does in bad weather. I was maybe 3-4 car lengths behind the person in front of me, and we were both going about 15mph. He slammed on his brakes, and so I pushed on my brakes and slid right into the back of his car at about 2mph. There didn't appear to be any damage to either car, not even paint scrapes. He was more concerned about me than anything else, which was very sweet of him. We exchanged insurance info and both of us got back on the interstate to continue on to work. I first noticed something was sort of funny when I couldn't shift into 5th. It felt like it was going into 5th, but I clearly was going into 3rd instead. When I got on the exit ramp and was stopped at the light, I was unable to shift into anything but 3rd gear. Since I was on an incline and the asshat behind me was 6" from my bumper, there wasn't much I could do but put on my hazard lights and wait until everyone passed so I could roll back onto the shoulder. If I had been on a flat surface, I could have gone straight into 3rd from a dead stop, but it's too risky on a hill like that.
Michael was more than a bit upset - after all, it's his car. I was horribly upset, this being my first car accident. Really, I hadn't done anything wrong. When I hydroplaned, I turned into it, I worked the brakes as I knew I should, and I wasn't following too closely behind the car in front of me. I'm not sure what went wrong, but I know I did everything I should have. That's all done and over with though, no sense in crying over spilled milk.
We went to go pick the car up at 6:30, after Mike got off work. I had driven by it at 3:30 and it was still there. Guess what? The towing company had come and impounded the car! Bastards. So we called the impound lot, and they said we needed the tag number and a release from the police station. This brought on a whole new problem.
You see, in the front passenger side seat of the car which was in the impound was my certified birth certificate. I was taking it to Fayetteville DMV to get an ID because my license was suspended. I just started this new job and had to give them my ID to get my first paycheck (so I could pay for the impound fees and damage to the car) because of paperwork stuff. You know how it works. The tag on the car in the impound was my tag, although the car is Mike's car. (Technically, the title is still in his mother's name, because he hasn't gotten it moved over, but that's a whole different aspect of this story that really isn't that important.) The tag used to go to my truck. Mike refused to get tags for his car, so I stuck my tags on there temporarily. I didn't know my tag info, so I called the tag office that I got the tags at originally. They said I needed my VIN and an ID. I called my old insurance company, Geico. They had a lot of problems finding me in the system, but they were finally able to pull up my trucks VIN. I don't have the truck anymore, by the way, which is why I wasn't able to go out and manually look this up. I called up the tag office and explained to them why I had no ID. I need my tag number to get the car out of impound so I can get my birth certificate so I can get an ID. They hmm'ed and hrm'ed, and told me to call the police station. ARGH. So I called the sheriff's office. The receptionist gave me some issues, so I started rattling off the whole story. She freaked out, it was probably a bit too much for her, old as she sounded, and transfered me to the Sheriff of Fayette County. So I explain my story to him, and then there's a dead silence.
Sheriff: "And he's still your boyfriend?"
Me: "heh, yeah. sucker!"
Sheriff: "hahaha. Hold on, I gotta tell the rest of the office this."
(pause)
Sheriff: "OK. This isn't really legal, and we're not supposed to do this, but you couldn't have made up that story. Hold on, I'll get you the tag number."
Me: (happy dance) "Thank you, Sheriff!"
Ok, so that details the car accident. I got my ID, Mike's car is out of the impound tomorrow, and all is good.
I absolutely love my new job. My coworkers are really sweet, despite the amount of shit they give me. We all seem to click pretty well. I'm in a position like I've been trying to find for a while. I can do things without going through 20 different levels of paperwork and political bullshit. It's nice.
I've been riding the Seca around a lot lately, especially since the Jetta is in impound and broken. I'm supposed to be going to look at an R6 soon, I think.
I moved downstairs this past weekend. I'm in a huge room now. It's easily 4 times the size of my old room, if not more. I've got couches and comfy things. I love it down here. I've got the lights off, the candles light, and some chill music on, waiting for my honey to get here. He's bringing me cheese. He loves me. :)

Hmmm comments dont seem to work in IE (I know, sharpreader insists on embedding IE). Really dont like the inner frame personally means scrolling all over the shop, but Ill allow the pink ;)
Glad all okish in the end on the smash, went through the same shit myself just recently.
R6!!! YZF? wooo wish I could hook up with you on my R1 would rock. But actually saying that I bust my arm recently too as the dumb builders spilt oil all over the road and didnt bother to clean it up, I hit it in a turn and got shown a close up of the road :-/
so you were driving without a license, and got into an accident, with an unregistered car, with illegal tags, then had the car impounded for failure to pay the tow fee?
NICE
Hello I was in a car accident recently and your story cheered me right up. I was backing out and hit someone's bottom left bumper. Needless to say there was a bunch of things I hadn't done with my car. I'm going to have to pay for a paint touch up job on the lexus in question. Needless to say, after your story I feel a lot better about my first accident.
